Sneak Peek Sunday - The Chameleon

On Sundays, authors share six paragraphs from either a work-in-progress or a published work. Here's another peek at The Chameleon, the next story in the Outer Rim series. The Chameleon will be released next month.

Last week, Jileena's father said she didn't have a head for business. After telling her about the discovery of an exotic mineral, he hits her with one surprise after another.

“Baby, I’m sending you to Galeria 7 to check out this discovery.”
“To the Outer Rim?” Jileena’s jaw dropped. While her father had sent her on discreet missions before, he’d never sent her that far from the Central Planets—especially since her brother died out on the Frontier.
“You will check the site and do your own analysis. Put that geology degree of yours into practice.”
She’d gone to university and majored in all the frou-frou courses her father decreed. As her alter ego, Leeva Warren, she’d secretly earned degrees in geology, archeology, and business administration. She gave him a wide-eyed stare. “Geology degree?”
“Come now, child. You can’t do anything I don’t know about.”
Hah. He didn’t know about her working in his company.

What surprise will he hit her with next?

  2. hmm, I'll bet he does know! Jileena sounds like a great character, and I'll bet there's more to her father than meets the eye, too!
