#30 Days of Gratitude - Day Six: Home

 Home is where we are.

Some people live all their adult lives in the same house. Their children have a place they call home, meaning where they grew up.

When Hubs' job required it, we moved. The shortest time in one house was three years, the longest fourteen, but most were around six years. Long enough to set down roots and make friends, only to be uprooted and transplanted elsewhere.

With retirement comes freedom. We didn't have to move anymore. After being apart from our kids, I wanted to be close to them. Eight years ago, we started looking for our new home, close to our only grandchildren. After not finding what we both wanted in a house, we decided to build. Others have told horror tales, I can only say it was a great experience. We compromised or our budget would've been through the roof. We downsized and got what we needed plus a couple of "luxuries" we wanted.

Seven years ago, we moved in. After the movers left, I sat down and for the first time in a new house I thought this is home.

I'm so grateful.
