Guest: Nick Wilford Cover Reveal RECKONING

Exciting news from Nick Wilford, a fellow Insecure Writers Support Group friend. We've all been waiting for his newest release in September. You can get a taste of Reckoning today with a cover reveal. Reckoning is the 3rd book in Nick's Black & White series.

cover design: germancreative

Is that cover evocative or what?

Here's the blurb.

The time has come for those who perpetrated wrongdoing and suffering on the land of Loretania to face their judgement. Lord Histender and the other members of the deposed Reformers’ Government are in jail awaiting trial for keeping that country in a state of disease-ridden deprivation, alongside other heinous crimes.

Wellesbury Noon and Ezmerelda Dontible, the kind and benevolent new rulers of Harmonia, are looking forward to seeing justice finally being done. But nothing is that simple. Lunkin, the psychotic former Chief Scientist, has one more trick up his sleeve and is wreaking havoc even from behind bars. Soon, Loretanians who have come to make a new life in Harmonia are falling victim to hate crimes and brutal attacks. And things take a turn for the desperate when Wellesbury himself becomes compromised.

Can Welles and Ez turn the tide of public opinion and secure justice for the people of Loretania before it’s too late?

After dispatching a team of scientists to Loretania, armed with cratefuls of an antidote and vaccine and headed up by their friend, Dr George Tindleson, Welles, Ez, and Welles’s brother Mal – who grew up in that benighted nation – start to worry when they hear nothing back, despite what they had agreed. Commandeering a fishing boat to follow the science team over the sea, they soon find that, while the disease may be on the way out, a new kind of infection has set in – the corruption they thought they had stamped out in Harmonia.

Can they get to the root of the problem and eradicate it before even more damage is done to an innocent people?

#IWSG: Major Life Events and #CoverReveal

Happy Insecure Writers Support Group Day. IWSG is the brainchild of Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Thanks, Alex, for starting this group and keeping it going.

Thanks to this month's awesome hosts:  Dolorah @ Book Lover,Christopher D. Votey, Tanya Miranda, and Chemist Ken!

October 3 question - How do major life events affect your writing? Has writing ever helped you through something?

Usually, I fold. That probably isn't what I should say to newbies. I've had major life events in my life--from Hubs' job disappearing to our mothers' illnesses; taking on a full-time job (for health insurance) that turned into a hostile environment. How about all three at the same time? Something has to give. For me, it was my writing. But . . . all things pass. We never know while going through difficulties when they will end. But they do. Having hope that you'll come out of those hard times can keep you going.

What helped me afterward was writing for fun. Not for publication. Just trying to remember why I wanted to write in the first place. That was cathartic. It took longer than I expected to want to pick up the pieces of my writing career. But I did it. You can, too.

September was a good month. I formatted three books for print and got them up on Amazon, etc. That felt really good. In August, I got the rights back for ONE RED SHOE, a romantic suspense. I have a new cover and just finished tweaking the original story. I should reissue it next week--ebook and print. I had to slack off on my sci-fi romance to do all that but, again, I feel good about what I accomplished.

Patricia Josephine's Cover Reveal

Instead of my usual Monday Morning Musing, I'm helping my Michigan friend Patricia Josephine reveal the cover for her newest story, Abducted Life.

Blurb:

Savannah Janowitz’s perfect life was destroyed the night she and her boyfriend vanished without a trace. When she reappears a year later––alone––she’s a shell of her former self. Robbed of her popularity and her boyfriend, she has no memory of what happened to her. Savannah struggles to move forward as strange, new abilities manifest.

Evan Sullivan never gave extra-terrestrials much thought until the night he and Savannah were abducted. While Savannah’s memory was wiped clean, he remembers every horrific detail. Constantly reminded of the experiments that made him less than human, Evan hides in the shadows and watches Savannah rebuild her life without him.

But neither can let the other go. When their paths cross, Savannah and Evan finally see a glimmer of their old lives return. As they face what happened to them, they soon discover they aren’t safe. There’s more to fear than what’s hiding in the stars.

About Patricia Josephine:

When Patricia Josephine isn't writing, she is watching Doctor Who or reading about serial killers. It is her dream to one day have what resembles a petting zoo. She is also an avid knitter. One can never have too much yarn! She also writes young adult under the name Patricia Lynne.

#CoverReveal ~ Self Help 101: Or How to Select a Costume to Help You Deal With People by L.G. Keltner

I love helping authors, especially when they have new releases. Today, Insecure Writers Support Group fellow L.G. Keltner reveals the cover of her new book. Here's a look.

Is that a cool cover or what?

Want to know more about what's inside?

Title: Self-Help 101 or: How to Select a Costume to Help You Deal With People
Author: L.G. Keltner
Genre: holiday/humor
Length: 29,000 words
Cover Art:  L.G. Keltner and Jamon Walker
Release Date: September 27, 2016

Blurb:

Book 3 in the Self-Help 101 series.

Dani Finklemeier is adjusting to life in college and the realities of living away from home for the first time.  She’s also learning to deal with the criticism that stems from sharing her writing with the world.  Some of the online criticism is even spelled correctly, which somehow makes it worse.

Fortunately, she has a Halloween party, a group of friends, and a supportive boyfriend to distract her from the things that are bothering her.  Of course, a holiday celebration wouldn’t be complete without something going wrong.  Between an unpleasant confrontation with an infuriating classmate, some shocking costume choices, and a bizarre fraternity stunt, the evening will be anything but dull.

Dani’s detractors may not like it, but she’ll definitely have enough material for another book.

Bio:

L.G. Keltner spends most of her time trying to write while also cleaning up after her crazy but wonderful kids and hanging out with her husband.  Her favorite genre of all time is science fiction, and she’s been trying to write novels since the age of six.  Needless to say, those earliest attempts weren’t all that good.

Her non-writing hobbies include astronomy and playing Trivial Pursuit.

You can typically find L.G. lurking around her blog, on Twitter, or on her Facebook page.

Best wishes, L.G. Sounds like you have another winner!

Cover Reveal - The Chameleon

Whoo-hoo! Here's the cover for my newest science fiction romance, The Chameleon (an Outer Rim novel). Rebel Ink Designs perfectly captures the dichotomy between the persona Jileena Winslott presents to the world and who she really is.

Short blurb:

Legally Blond meets Mata Hari

Socialite Jileena Winslott has perfected the image of the spoiled, rich, bubble-headed daughter of an industrial magnate. In reality, she’s a smart, savvy aide to her father in social situations where she is his eyes and ears. She yearns to be her true self and run the family business. When her father sends her on a covert mission to the Outer Rim, she has the chance to prove herself. Big problem. He insists she take along a fake fiancĂ©—the man she’s secretly loved for years.

The Chameleon will be available on Monday, May 12.
