A Candy Hearts Romance
 by
Maureen L. Bonatch

Blurb:
The car accident totaled Sabrina Post’s convertible and reinvented her memories. She can't recall dumping Cole Dawson ten years ago. What her new clairvoyant visions tell Sabrina is he’s her husband. Any practical girl would question her sanity. But if Sabrina wants to make this imaginary future a reality, she'll have to regain Cole’s trust and eliminate her rival, the coffee shop waitress who’s pegged Cole as husband #4. To prove she’s foreseen their destiny, Sabrina stirs Cole’s interest by revealing specifics about him she couldn’t have otherwise known. Unfortunately, the one detail he vividly remembers is the pain when she left him and their "rinky-dink" town in her rearview mirror.
If Cole can't believe she's a changed woman, can Sabrina accept the only second chance she has at love exists in her memories?

Excerpt:

Sabrina’s laugh faded at his unspoken words. Despite being born and raised in Rosewood, she wasn’t considered a local anymore since she’d moved and shunned the small town way of life they loved. She’d have to earn their respect, or forever be considered an outsider.
“How do you know what my New Year’s resolution is?” Sabrina tensed, wondering if Cole experienced the same unusual visions.
Cole shrugged. “It’s the same one you made every year. You were never successful with it then, either. You insisted you were no—”
“Quitter.” Sabrina finished the sentence.
“Yeah.” Cole cleared his throat. “Unfortunately, I have to get back to the store. My lunch break is over.” His gaze lingered on Sabrina. “Perhaps you’ll tell me your story…another time.”
He rose, bracing his arms on the table. The muscles in his biceps bulged. The group at the table behind them fell silent, straining to detect every word exchanged. “Somewhere a little more private.”
The happiness warming her at his closeness made her want to drown in the depths of his emerald eyes and seek the answers to the mystery of her muddled memories. The emotions welling inside her made no sense—love never did—especially since she loved a man she didn’t even know. God, she was crazy. Did she stand a chance of making her memories of Cole a reality? She licked her unbearably dry lips. “Yeah, perhaps.”

#IWSG: Resolutions

It's the first Wednesday of a new year.  It's time for the Insecure Writers Support Group, whose mission is to share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! IWSG is the brainchild of Ninja Captain Alex J. Cavanaugh Thanks, Alex, for starting this group and keeping it going. And thanks to this month's awesome hosts: L.G. Keltner, Denise Covey, Sheri Larsen, J.Q. Rose, Chemist Ken, and Michelle Wallace!

Prior to Lent, many people choose to give up things. A sacrifice, so to speak. At the beginning of the new year, we make plans to do things and/or do them more. Like . . .

Read more. Since I started writing, reading has taken a back seat. Last year’s Goodreads Challenge was an eye-opener. I thought I’d read more books than that. Maybe I didn’t list all that I’d read. Anyway, I need to read more outside the genres I write. My book club should ensure that.

Walk more. With a bad back, walking is difficult. You know that commercial about being more active helps arthritis but arthritis makes it hard to be active. I agree with that! Still, I have to walk more than just through stores.

Write more. Or faster. I have so many ideas running around in my mind that I’ll need another lifetime to write them all. Buckling down each morning and getting those words on the screen will definitely aid the progress of the next book.

Promote better. Hubs (who was in business) asked how I could tell if my efforts at promotion were successful. Good question. I need to figure out if I’m spending my time efficiently and my money wisely.

Enjoy time with my family more. I’m not saying I don’t already enjoy them. I have to not think about what needs to be done while I’m enjoying the grandkids, our kids, and Hubs. Maybe I need to “stop and smell the roses” or “live in the moment.” Whatever clichĂ© works.

I know all about making SMART goals, and mine aren’t SMART. I’ll save them for my 2016 Business Plan.

Do you make resolutions each January? Or do you just go with the flow? What works best for you?

A New Year

It’s hard to believe this is 2016. Didn’t we just celebrate the Millennium? Last week, I talked mostly about looking back and a bit about looking forward. Today it’s about looking forward. What I want to accomplish . . . today, this week, this year.

Since I’m still “on vacation” so to speak, visiting our son and his family, it’s difficult to think about getting back to a routine. Yet, I know I have to. I released The Case of the Fabulous FiancĂ© on December 8th and proceeded to do as much promotion as I could. If I’d written as many words for the next book as I did for guest posts, I’d be a third of the way finished with The Case of the Meddling Mama. Promo has to be done, though. Besides, short pieces are a lot easier to write than a 75,000-word novel.

Yesterday, I wrote a post for tomorrow’s visit to Pamela Thibodeaux’s blog. Stop by and find out what I treasure (as regular readers of this blog, I’m sure you’ll guess). Now I need to buckle down and return to the third Alex O’Hara novel. The first scene is written. The rest is still in my head.

The commenters on last week’s post recommended scheduling and compartmentalizing my life. I did make a To-Do List for what I need to accomplish in my writing life. I need to make a list for home—the everyday/week stuff. After that, I need to divide my time into blocks and plug in items from the To-Do Lists. I’d better include things like sleep, meals, shopping, and exercise. Also fun time—playing with the grandkids, “dates” with the Hubs, reading, and watching movies.

Are there really only twenty-four hours in each day?

I need structure. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s too easy for me to get involved in a project (like a
new story) and nothing else matters. That’s why making a schedule will work. Maybe. Making the schedule will be a lot easier than sticking to it. I’m not trying to give myself an out. I need to be realistic. If it takes setting an alarm to tell me to stop reading email and start laundry, I’ll have to do it. But I’ll also have to be flexible. If Hubs says “let’s go to the show” I’ll leave Alex and Nick and the Meddling Mama, even if someone is in jeopardy. Hubs needs some attention, too.

Do schedules work for you?
