Saturday Sampler - The Promised One by C.D. Hersh

Blurb for—The Promised One (The Turning Stone Chronicles)
In the wrong hands, the Turning Stone ring is a powerful weapon for evil. So, when homicide detective Alexi Jordan discovers her secret society mentor has been murdered and his magic ring stolen, she is forced to use her shape-shifting powers to catch the killer. By doing so, she risks the two most important things in her life—her badge and the man she loves.
Rhys Temple always knew his fiery cop partner and would-be-girlfriend, Alexi Jordan, had a few secrets. He considers that part of her charm. But when she changes into a man, he doesn’t find that as charming. He’ll keep her secret to keep her safe, but he’s not certain he can keep up a relationship—professional or personal.
Danny Shaw needs cash for the elaborate wedding his fiancée has planned, so he goes on a mugging spree. But when he kills a member of the secret society of Turning Stones, and steals a magic ring that gives him the power to shape shift, Shaw gets more than he bargained for.
The book was just released in ebook form for Kindle July 10, 2013.

EXCERPT:

The woman stared at him, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth. “Return the ring, or you’ll be sorry.”
With a short laugh he stood. “Big words for someone bleeding to death.” After dropping the ring into his pocket, he gathered the scattered contents of her purse, and started to leave.
“Wait.” The words sounded thick and slurred . . . two octaves deeper . . . with a Scottish lilt.
Shaw frowned and spun back toward her. The pounding in his chest increased. On the ground, where the woman had fallen, lay a man.
He wore the same slinky blue dress she had—the seams ripped, the dress top collapsed over hard chest muscles, instead of smoothed over soft, rounded curves. The hem skimmed across a pair of hairy, thick thighs. Muscled male thighs. Spiked heels hung at an odd angle, toes jutting through the shoe straps. The same shoes she’d been wearing.
The alley tipped. Shaw leaned against the dumpster to steady himself. He shook his head to clear the vision, then slowly moved his gaze over the body.
A pair of steel-blue eyes stared out of a chiseled face edged with a trim salt-and-pepper beard. Shaw whirled around scanning the alley.
Where was the woman? And who the hell was this guy?
Terrified, Shaw fled.
The dying man called out, “You’re cursed. Forever.”

Welcome Back, R.T. Wolfe

Please welcome my friend, R.T. Wolfe. She's been here before--actually twice before--sharing info about herself and her books. The exciting news is that Book 3 in the Black Creek Series, Dark Vengeance, was just released yesterday. If you haven't read R.T.'s romantic suspense yet, you're missing a real treat. Look what others are saying about the series.

The Black Creek Series has been described as, “..beautifully satisfying..” and, “..a top-rated romantic suspense..” by EPIC award-winning author Laurie Larsen.

Books With Benefits, J.W. Ashley, called it “..truly warmed me..” and emphasized, “..the town, the children, the back-story..”

And Long and Short Reviews thought, “..the author could give classes on creating the kind of characters a reader will love so much.”

Book 1 in the Black Creek Series, Black Creek Burning, was released in January and hit the Amazon Best-Seller list in February. Just this month, it hit the #1 spot of all ebook genre sales on Barnes and Noble and held the spot for 2 days. As a new author, I most certainly need someone to pinch me.

And here we are at the final book in the series, Dark Vengeance. Bittersweet. My editors have all told me I saved the best for last and I can only hope my readers feel the same as they return to gorgeous, fictitious upstate Northridge, New York.

Hmm… I was never one to end a story before it’s time. A splinter series starring the main characters from Dark Vengeance, Black Creek Series Book 3, is in the editing stages at this moment. So dang fun.

If you enjoy a story that twines murder, romance, arson, passion, betrayal and the close ties of family, each book in the Black Creek Series sells for no more than $4.99 and is available everywhere. ($14.95 in print on Amazon.)

Thank you, Diane, for having me back on your lovely blog. And thank you to Diane’s followers for reading!

Gratefully,
R.T. Wolfe

Duncan won't stop until the deadly arsonist targeting his Aunt is back behind bars. But the smart and sassy Nickie Savage is in his way and getting far too close to a 30-year-old secret he's fought to protect.

When the arsonist strikes again with perfectly timed twin explosions, Duncan and Nickie must re-think everything they once believed about the arsonist and each other.

About R.T. Wolfe

R.T. was born and raised in the Midwest, the youngest of six children. She married at a young age and decided early she wanted a family herself. With three small boys, she and her husband flipped two houses with R.T. in charge of the landscaping and her husband, the woodworking and trim. Now, they are rooted in the final home they created and designed.

Now that the boys are nearly grown, R.T. spends much of her time on the road traveling from one sporting event to another serving as mom and cheerleader. When at home, she enjoys Pilates, working with her Golden Retriever and digging in the glorious dirt of her landscaping plots all to the sound of the constant miter box or belt sander coming from the double-garage they included in their home design.

During one restless night the romantic suspense, the Black Creek Series began finding its way on the keyboard of R. T.’s laptop. Writing became a drug and R.T. found her true home. Several revisions and versions later, Black Creek Burning, was published in 2012.
